Friend and Partner,
It is with great excitement and some sadness that I write to share with you my decision to take a position with the Corporation for National and Community Service as State Director in Kentucky. I am grateful for this opportunity to continue to grow professionally in a field for which I have such passion. As a result, I am leaving my position with Prescott College as the Director of Arizona Serve, the statewide AmeriCorps VISTA program. It is with great pleasure however, that I announce Ben Olsen has accepted the position and as of April 18th, 2014, will be operating as the new Director of Arizona Serve.
During the last five years with Prescott College, and the last eight years with AmeriCorps VISTA in Arizona, I have had the privilege of doing work that made a difference and made my days full of joy. I am so grateful for the work we have done together, the learning our partnerships have provided, and the service that you have given in the spirit of building better and stronger communities across Arizona. In the last eight years, 176 VISTA members have served with us, each member leaving a lasting mark on our communities and on my life. Together we built an innovative organization nationally recognized for best practices and we did so while having altogether too much fun! I knew in 2006 when the Yavapai County VISTA Project was just an idea what we could accomplish together. Today I am blown away by the collective impact of our shared vision.
It is because of my faith in the strength of what we have built together that I can leave this work in Arizona with a glad heart and peace of mind. I know that the communities we serve will continue to receive excellent service and support from our members, and that our members could not be in better hands than those of future Director, Ben Olsen. Under his direction we will continue to offer the same exemplary programming in Yavapai County and in Tucson that our communities have come to expect.
I hope to keep in touch with each of you through Facebook (friend me by searching for Maggie Garvey) or email. Feel free to say hello anytime: firstname.lastname@example.org.
I will carry you all with me as I start on this new adventure.
In deep gratitude,
