VISTA stands for Volunteers in Service to America. This AmeriCorps program has been lifting Americans out of poverty nationwide since 1965. The Arizona Serve VISTA team currently includes 11 VISTA members serving in Prescott and 19 VISTA members serving in Tucson.
Over the past year, our AmeriCorps VISTA team has:
- Managed over 950 volunteers contributing over 16,000 hours.
- Leveraged over $470,000 in cash resources and over $260,000 in in-kind resources.
- Implemented 240 new systems, business processes, or enhancements at non-profits, government offices, and health centers in Prescott and Tucson.
- Cultivate community engagement and provide volunteer opportunities for those who live throughout Arizona.
VISTA members are recruited nationally and are often recent college graduates who are boosting a resume, volunteers looking for options for retirement, highly-skilled individuals, or experienced community leaders. VISTA members sign up with partner agencies for a full-time year of service. These members leverage service-learning opportunities and are placed at nonprofits to help strengthen systems and create a more sustainable approach to existing programs that fight poverty.
